Many times, in a Christian’s life, service to God is viewed as an obligation, a responsibility we all have. It’s something we all need to do. And so, you begin to serve because you should. However, as Pastor Holland will teach today, service to God should be viewed as an act of worship in response to what He’s done. Because He’s so good and so worthy, serving Him should be viewed as a way to praise Him, glorify Him, and thank Him. It’s a privilege to serve God and work with Him for His purposes on earth.

As Pastor Holland reminds you today, Jesus came down fully God and fully man, lived a perfect life, and became the sacrificial lamb on the cross for you. And that’s what the Christmas story is all about. Jesus, even as a baby, was the victory we were waiting for.

You need a personal relationship with God. You can’t just know about God, or even hold to moral values that line up with Scripture. God gives us laws to point us to our need for faith in Him and to guide us towards a life that honors Him through obedience out of gratitude. As Pastor Holland continues our study of the book of Exodus in today’s message, he’ll remind us of the importance of a relationship with God. This relationship is made possible by His grace, not our good works.
